This is an overlanding crowd favorite. It is geologically fascinating and scenic while including arches, slot canyons, and great disbursed camping. However, sometimes we get lucky and get a campsite in Kodachrome Basin State Park with its towering “pipes” and tasty ice cream served at the entrance station. Explore with us!
Our first use of traction boards to get out of a mess in a narrow deep wash. The hard part of this route was still ahead. We knew the Kokopelli Trail was tough for mountain bikers and even Jeepers and we were right, taking an AWD Transit van on this trail would be tough on us.
We knew that driving our AWD Ford Transit on the Kokopelli Trail from Loma, CO to Moab, UT would be quite challenging, and it was! The first and second legs were the hardest. Our van wasn’t lifted yet and wasn’t until Leg 3, but we really needed that lift before Leg 2!
It was a scary ride but both the AWD Ford Transit with KO2 tires and Katya’s excellent driving got us safely to the bottom. We had a precious reserved campsite in Canyonlands National Park and we were determined to get there. Check out our campsite!
